Martin Scali is a screenwriter and director born in Paris and raised in Barcelona. During his studies, he directed a few experimental films: Seul in 2004 with Gaspard Ulliel and On avait Rendez-Vous in 2006 with Lea Seydoux. He then moved to New York and became the assistant of Wes Anderson on the animation film Fantastic Mr. Fox. Back to Paris in 2010, he directed his first short, Trois Chats, with Jeremie Renier, selected in several festivals in France and abroad. In 2011, he took care of a behind-the-scenes documentary on Moonrise Kingdom and directed his second short, Un Dejeuner du Dimanche, which also gained recognition in several international film festivals, winning two prizes in Saint Petersburg (best director and best actor for Jean-Francois Stevenin).In 2013, he was second unit director on The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson.His first feature, Un Prince, was chosen to be one of the six projects in residence at the 2014 edition of the film lab Emergence, where Jacques Audiard accepted to be his mentor. Since then, Martin has been developing this project which has received the support of the Grand Est region in France and whose writing is being finalized with co-writer Marie Monge (director of Joueurs, Director's fortnight - Cannes 2018). In parallel, Martin directs commercials and music videos. In 2019, he was again the second unit director on the next Wes Anderson, The French Dispatch, and also directed his third short, Canyon.Filmography:
